and are an essential focal point on the face. It’s no wonder that lip cosmetics
are such an important part of the beauty industry.

Skin experts have long known about the link between acne and
dairy, but a recent study conducted at the University of California, Los
Angeles (UCLA) has made the connection even clearer.
It turns out that Vitamin B12, an essential mineral abundant
in meat, fish and dairy, is the root cause of many severe acne problems.

Are Razors The Next Beauty Secret?
There is a weird trend being touted on the Internet, and it says that women should start shaving their faces.

Many women swear by facial shaving as the answer to their anti-aging woes |
Many women swear by it, and some have been doing it for years. Reality TV star Caroline Manzo of The Real Housewives of New Jersey was even filmed doing it on the show. "Let me make something clear and hopefully answer your questions once and for all: I shave my face as a method of exfoliating my skin." Manzo says. "I don’t shave because I have a hairy face! I’ve been practicing this for over 10 years, and I haven’t grown any facial hair because of it, and I have beautiful skin with minimal wrinkles. I think this should clarify any questions.”
Win A FREE Botox or Juvederm Dermal Filler Treatment
Christmas 2014 Giveaway
In the spirit of the festive season, I'd like to give away one free treatment of either Botox for Upper Face (worth RM2,000) or one syringe of Juvederm dermal fillers (worth RM2,200) to one lucky winner. Both Botox and Juvederm are premium products from Allergan, one of the most reputable companies in the medical aesthetic field.
Botox, or Botulinum toxin A, is a proprietary product that works by disrupting the signals from the brain that communicate with your muscles. It can help you improve the appearance of your frown lines, crow's feet and other dynamic wrinkles - the wrinkles and lines that you see when you move your muscles. Botox also helps to restore facial symmetry - such as when you have one eyebrow higher than the other - and reduces hyperactive muscular activity. Examples include unconscious frown lines (so called number 11's between the eyebrows), and enlarged jaw muscles that develop due to constant chewing.
Just one quick session of Botox can help you look younger and better rested. The treatment is very quick, and the fine needles and pain-relief methods we use make this treatment even less uncomfortable than an ant bite. You will see effects of the treatment within 4 days, and they will last approximately 4 - 6 months.
If you are concerned about the effects of Botox treatments, rest assured that properly trained Botox experts are skilled in giving results that are harmonious and natural looking. No doctor wants their patients to experience the 'frozen' or 'fake' look so often associated with Botox.
In general, you will retain your normal facial expressions post-treatment, but look relaxed, happier and younger. It is very rare for patients to experience any side effects of the Botox treatment, besides an occasional bruise. More often, patients will return to me within the week to ask for more of the magical treatment!
With over 12 years of experience administering Botox, I have been officially recognized by Allergan Malaysia to conduct training modules for doctors who aren't familiar with Botox and its specialized injection techniques.
Juvederm is a dermal filler made from hyaluronic acid, a natural component of healthy skin. Where Botox helps to prevent the movement of muscles, Juvederm volumises or fills in hollows, lines and depressions to restore the look of a youthful face. A face loses its youthfulness when fatty deposits and skin elasticity are reduced.
Fillers such as Juvederm are often used for anti-aging effect in the forehead lines, corw's feet, under-eye area or around the mouth. It can also be used to improve facial contours by augmenting nasal height and shape, volumising the lips or adding length to an inadequate chin.
Juvederm injections can last about 1 -2 years after each session, and the effects can be as subtle or dramatic as the patient requests. As an offical Juvederm trainer, I have a lot of experience in the assessment and treatment of different facial conditions, to help patients achieve their aesthetic and anti-aging goals.

7 Facts You Need To Know About Adult Acne
As an aesthetic doctor, I meet many patients with adult acne, and they are often very perplexed and troubled by it.
"I'm 35!" One woman tells me. "I haven't had acne for 15 years!"
One gentleman has lived with acne that has covered his cheeks and chin since he was 13.
Another woman wants to know how she can prevent the recurring acne that appears on her face every month just before her period. As a person who has many social engagements, having pimples greatly affects her self-confidence.

What is the Ideal Female Body Shape and Why?
What is the ideal female body shape? It depends if you're asking a man or a woman.
For women, the ideal will be a fashion model's body, a tall, willowy body with a modest bustline, a small waist-to-hip ratio, and thin, muscled thighs. According to women's ideal of the perfect female body, she should be 70 inches tall, have a BMI of 16.5 (underweight BMI), and have a hip size that is just 46 percent larger than her waist size.

Which Facial Treatments Really Work? Part 2 - The Best From The Rest

This post at beautyeditor.ca discusses why spa facial treatments are not really good for your skin. This New York Times article also explains why dermatologists don't recommend facials for optimal skin health and beauty. This article quotes Professor of Dermatology, Doris Day, MD about spa facials: "I call it 'spa science' because there isn't a lot of science behind many of the claims." She further adds,"Think of a facial as a treat rather than a medical treatment." Good at-home daily facial care can preclude the need for costly facial treatments.
Which Facial Treatments Really Work? Part 1 - It's All About The Hype
My wife complains that going for a facial is more stress than bliss nowadays. "Too many options and choices ... I don't know if I should go for a deep-clean cream cleanser or a blemish-relief clarifying one; would a diamond polishing be better than a ultrasonic exfoliation; and is a gold or propolis mask better for my skin?"
